Meet Chantel Matthews!
My friend, if you are like me then you know the struggle of weightless and balance was mom. There is a wealth of information out there trailing, “health” challenges, one size fits all meal plans, and work out guides. The problem is, many mothers are still grabbing a grip on, well, being a mom! I know I am! Two kids in and every day is different. SO I was so happy when I met Chantel! First off, her energy is insane! I have been front row to her infectious encouragement and powerful positivity. She is caring for moms by helping them reach their health goals in a sustainable and vibrant way. I can NOT wait for you to meet her!
So tell us a little about yourself and what you do?
Hi beautiful mamas! I'm so excited to share a little of my world with you. I am a mom of 3, myself. I have a 13 year old ( still can't believe that!) a 10 year old and an 8 year old. I live in southern California with my husband of 14 years. We got married when I was 19 and had our first baby the following year! To say it's been a whirlwind is an understatement.
I am a certified Health Coach and I am obsessed with helping moms lose weight and gain energy!
Did you always have a passion for this and what got you started?
I have always had a passion for all things health and fitness related and my path with helping moms started with a breakdown moment I had, to be honest. There I was, a mom of 3 trying to " bounce back" and lose the baby weight. I was finding all the fad diets and 30 day bootcamps out there. I was eating very minimal calories each day and did intense workouts. One day at the gym, I nearly passed out! That moment made me open my eyes. I knew something wasn't working. I was cranky, frustrated and had super low energy to give my family. I got really curious about how to get results AND feel good in the process. I took my knowledge of the brain/ body/ hormones and came up with a simple plan for myself and it WORKED. I wanted to shout from the rooftops and help as many moms as I could to lose weight AND gain energy without all the drama and frustration.
What are some common misconceptions about your job or profession?
There's this common misconception that it must be "go hard or go home" in order to get results. That is simply not true! As a matter of fact, I think that's why a lot of moms get stuck on their weight loss journey. They think it has to be super intense and complicated. They often jump on these unrealistic diets and workout plans that are simply not sustainable for this busy season of their life!
What are you working on currently to help moms or families in your community?
I offer a program designed specifically for moms that takes a customized & balanced approach. No need to add more stress to your body!
If you could offer 1 piece of advice to a new mom, what would it be?
Simplify, simplify, simplify and breathe. Decide what is a priority TODAY. Take baby steps each day. Some days that will look like simply going for a walk in the sun and getting a load of laundry done... and that's OK!
What do you do when you are not working?
I am such a sports mom! My kids are all involved in different activities so when I am not working, I am usually attending a practice or game. You will also catch me dancing, wether that is out or in my bathroom. ;) Overall, I love creating beautiful memories with my cute fam.
Favorite quote & something you can't live without when working?
Oh my goodness, so many quotes I live by! One that I am loving for 2023 is "This is your year to sparkle." Something I can't live without when working would be my "brain breaks." I set aside time to walk my dog in the sun or ground my feet outside. I get off my phone, away from the screen and just breathe multiple times during my work day.
