A word on wardrobe

Your outfits will make a huge difference in your photos. Everything from color to shape of the garments can highlight or dampen your image. In order to help you on your next branding shoot, I have put together a few tips around the topic of

Something to keep in mind: Monochromatic Outfits

Limiting each outfit to one color palette is a great way to create a long and lean body line in your portraits. When pairing separates keep light with light and dark with dark, but they do not have to be the exact same color. Your top does not have to be an exact match to your bottoms.

1. Fit your form

Fitted clothes work best for photographs. This applies to ALL BODIES. Outfits should hug your curves. (Loose, flowing skirts, wide legs pants or wide leg pants are fabulous as long as the bodice is fitted). Always choose tailored over loose and boxy.

2. Bring a variety of colors. Something light, something dark and a pop to bring out your eyes. Skip patterns that distract from your face.

3. Think texture vs. patterns.

Lace, ruffles, fur and ruching all add visual interest.

4. Avoid cap sleeves. Sleeveless or 3/4 sleeves are most flattering.

5. Look for a variety of necklines to change up your look.

6. Don’t forget jewelry! Earrings that frame the face work really well with short hair. Various lengths of necklaces.

“I think our bodies are beautiful, and I think celebrating them and being comfortable in them—no matter what age you are—is important. There shouldn't be any kind of shame or discomfort around it.”
